faolan, 3 year old husky It had felt great to get out of that smelly, cramped city for a while. She had been lingering there for too long and it seemed to be going to the wolves; Something Faolan didn't feel fond enough of to stick around. As her paws hit the comfort of the thin snow and twigs, the bare trees covering the sky, the husky felt more at home. For a while, she just walked, enjoying the air and the way it felt to be free of all those buildings and cramped spaces. There was nothing like the feeling of home. As she was about to turn onto a new path, the smell of a rabbit hit her nose. Swiveling her ears in it's direction, it wasn't long before her muzzle and eyes followed. It had been a while since she had had the thrill of the hunt and the taste of warm meat on her tongue. Dropping her body low to the ground, she began to stalk the creature. She was careful not to drag her tail or spook it. When it finally came into view; a plump gray rabbit; she was surprised at how big it really was. Most creatures were scrawny this time a year, but it appeared to be the she dog's lucky day. Pushing off with strong hind legs, she pelted after it, the snow flying up behind her. Her strides were long and the agility of her body only made it easier to gain on the helpless creature. Just as it was about to dig low into it's burrow, the husky snagged her teeth into it's hind and threw it from the hole, grabbing it again and giving the killing bite before it could make another escape attempt. The meat was warm and familiar on her jaws and she laid down in the snow to get a more comfortable position to enjoy it. It wasn't long before the rabbit was gone and all that remained was a few scraps of meat that were quickly licked from her face. Now, she relaxed. Her large head was rested neatly on her paws and her light gold eyes focused on the cloudy sky over her head. The only sign of life in her was the slight twitch of her ears every once in a while to keep a sign of alertness. made by abby of i'm so curious |
