Nute's paws lightly bounced over the grass as she made her way along the outside of the abandoned farm. Her ears were pricked, acoustics cupping any faint noise that might come to them. the border collie female's ears were pricked, acoustics cupping any faint noise that might come to them. She was skittish around new males, especially ones that might have the potential to hurt her. her tail was tucked between her legs as she slipped into the barn, grateful to be inside from the freezing temperature.
her pads stung from the frozen ground and once inside the barn, which the floor was littered with hay, she felt much better.
Nute hopped up onto one of the hay bales and tucked her hindquarters into a sitting position;her knees turning outward. her forelegs kept her upper body erect as she sat there, glancing around the inside of the barn. She felt a shiver run down her spine but thankfully the barn was much warmer than the temperature outside.
the shepherd heard a loud crash of an old tractor falling over when he bumped against it. his first reaction was to tuck and run, which he did just as that. he ran, not even thinking about turning back to see if the thing had started to chase him. the grass parted as he ran and his maw opened in a heavy pant; gusts of steam billowing from his maw. tumbling over a rock he let out a nimble yelp as he planted on his chest, his rump moving into the air. he let it fall down and sat for a minute trying to assess what had just happened to him. flicking his ears around to listen for the broken tractor, he was relieved to find nothing there.
beginning to walk toward the barn in the distance he kept his tail low and his body on watch. his ears constantly listening for sounds, including the faintest sound of a bird tweeting caused him to jump. picking up his pace-just in case something was following-he approached the inside of the barn. his eyes meeting with another dogs. quickly his ears flicked back and his body lowered to the ground. the shepherds tail swaying back fourth behind him in a friendly manner. surprised to have run into another creature such as this one.
there was something different about her...and he couldn't figure it out at all. then it hit him, that scent she put off made him figure it out. it wasn't a male, it was a female. she was still none the less not that scary. though he felt as though he should be afraid. looking at her, he admired her gorgeous features with a sweet smile upon his maw.
Nute's nose twitched as she picked up the scent of another canine that had come into the barn. It was a male. She lowered her belly and laid down, letting her front forelegs dangle over the edge of the hay bale. She let her ears fall back against her head in a frightened manner. She eyed him warily.
"H-Hello," she stammered out nervously as she watched his body language.
it seemed friendly enough but she wasnt so sure. Males had a tendency to be sweet and kind until they get what they wanted from the female, and then they dropped them like yesterday's news, never giving a second thought about them. Nute learned to protect herself from this and be wary of all males regardless.
"W-What brings you out here?" She asked again keeping her ears pinned back as she waited for his response.
At least he didn't seem aggressive which worked in her favor. Nasty dogs like that liked to bully her and push her around. She wasn't exactly cowering, but it was close.
he watched her, watching how she acted and cocked his head to the side. are all females like this? he thought to himself as he watched her in awe. honestly he didn't see many females, and her being one of the very few he was intrigued by how she acted towards him. it made him want to know why she acted the way she did. crawling over slowly he rolled over at the base of the hay bale and smiled up at her. "hi..and i happened upon the place because something metal was chasing me..." he said wincing slightly. he had encountered a couple males that would bully him, so he was afraid she would do the same because of what he was afraid of.
Nute's ears pricked slightly now at the way Ryker acted. He had rolled over at the base of the bale and she glanced down at him. Concern slowly seeped into her expression.
"Something metal? wow that m-must be scary," she said in a shaky tone now starting to wonder about this male. He seemed different, and he definitely hadn't tried to hurt her in any shape or form so she found herself slowly starting to relax. "I think i've seen those metal things. They are quite scary." she admitted shivering a bit.
She glanced down at her front paws.
"I-I'm sorry if I seem skittish," she admitted feeling the heat creeping into her cheeks under her fur. "Males and I dont really tend to get along. I-I've had males abuse me in the past."
she hoped he wouldn't judge her or anything. She was pretty touchy about the subject. And she was surprised that she was actually delving out this information to him, a perfect stranger. She avoided eye contact and waited for him to start the snickering and laughing and possibly abuse
he smiled happily. she was a very beautiful dog, though being ryker he wasn't really focused on her beauty but more her eyes. he always looked at another dogs eyes to determine how kind they really were. hers were soft and gentle and made him more comfortable around her. And it's fine. there should be no need for you to be sorry about how you act. he replied to her gently, rolling onto his stomach to sit up and look at her with a pleasant smile upon his maw.
nute smiled and blushed again at his words. clearly he didn't care that she was this skittish around him. She found herself scooting over a bit on the bale to make room for him to jump up if he wanted to.
"i-if you want to, you can join me on the bale," she offered shyly as her ears were pricked forward, eagerly. she found herself relaxing around this male more and more and perhaps she would come away with a friend or more. The thought made her feel excited and eager. this would be the first friend she had in a long time...well hell maybe even ever.
"d-do you have a pack?" she inquired curiously, hoping that maybe he didn't have a pack. pack dogs were vicious and ruthless and Nute wasn't sure she wanted to be apart of something like that. she liked being on her own and moving to the beat of her own drum. Her amber eyes watched Ryker curiously.
