The demoness on the path
The rain didn't stop- it hit the ground harshly, mother nature wishing to drown the earth, it seems. The young female is about as dry as she could be, however- she is used to this type of rain. Kestrin was a traveler, the rain poured through her fur, yet it didn't chill her- as it would most short-haired canines. Her long fur seemed to be a blessing now, with the winter and the chilling rain- her tough coat and thick fur easily blocked out most of the cold, her being a pre-warmed blanket, ready for use. The pale white canine slowly wandered into the unfamiliar territory, her paws easily making its way through the dense snow, her eyes squinted and scanning the land for signs of life. She kept her posture into a defensive pose- and the fur on the back of her neck bristled as she growled lightly, grumbling about- showing she didn't wish to be bothered by anyone who hid in the vegetation.
As she felt the rain suddenly turn colder- she looked up at the darkness of the sky, giving a half smile at the moon, her tail swishing behind her. She loved the night, even if it did make her shiver, she felt a lot better in the night, despite her white-furred figure. Luckily for the female, she'd found a small cave- more so a hole near the top of the falls- her ears perked at the sound of rushing water, and she grunted lightly, her eyes peering at the hole. It was in the side of the snowy mountain- it was large, yet there was open air near the entrance. But she showed no fear- over confident in her abilities as she easily leaped into the hole, shaking out her wet, thick fur- her head turning to scan the land behind her. Hopefully, no other loners would take refuge in the cave.
The sight of yellow in the darkness made her freeze- and her body tense up.
However- the sound of a growl made her lower her head dangerously, her cold eyes landing on a male curled in the corner, obviously shivering due to his short-coat, he seemed wolf-like, like her, yet he lacked the thick coat most had. She had snarled violently despite this, her eyes narrowing as the wolf had gotten up slowly- seeing the threat, and seeming to submit as his tail curled in between his legs, yet he bared his teeth, ears pinned back as he slunk uneasily across the wall. The white female had raised her tail, baring her teeth and growling as she walked towards him, a predator stalking the prey, she had stopped- glaring at the male who had begun to whine in a slight panic, his tail swishing nervously as he looked at the dominant female before him who demanded respect and space. She waited for a moment, but she was never patient for strangers. The white-furred wolf lunged, teeth enclosing around the thick fur of the wolf, sinking teeth into the flesh that connected its shoulder and neck, large paws shoving him to the floor.
The wolf had yelped, snapping at the air, flailing his body as he nipped at her fur. She had let him go, but not before she had given a rather deep bite- teeth already having punctured her target as she ripped her head backwards, teeth still stuck in his skin, causing her teeth to have the affect of a knife as she cut the wound open some more. She was already ready for some sort of challenge the moment she backed up, her fur on the back of her neck raising to make her appear a lot bigger than she normally was, she had growled- baring dangerous fangs at the male, her tail still raised and swishing as she continued to demand respect. No fear was evident in her eyes, it wasn't as if she had anything to fear, he was small- and seemed to be a rather, lovely target. But, she wasn't in the mood for blood today- even though the taste of it running through her mouth filled her delight. The male had stared at her for a moment, seeming to be unsure how to react, before he suddenly darted out of the den. Blood was more important than water, he could easily withstand rain and snow. The female watched him go, growling lightly.
'Good riddance' she had snorted, thinking.
Slinking back into a normal position, she had given a sigh as her fur flattened against her coat, she had turned around slowly, moving forward and laying against the wall of the cavern, giving a huff of breath- her eyes closing- before reopening as she suddenly sensed something- a low growl already escaping her lips.
Something was lurking.
